Get those apps out to those that test!

In the game of software development, beta testers are as good as gold. Useful feedback on our apps and games can make accelerate the release cycle and iron out bugs that the multitude of eyes found, that one set could not. That’s why so many different options exist to help us get our software into as many hands as possible, before you need to get your app out the door.

One such tool, AirSign, is very useful, and comes with a 1-month trial of their services. Cue Roaminggamer, who recently posted a step-by-step description of how to get your Corona builds generated and run through the service so that you can send your builds out lickety-split. Head on down to the original thread to grab the steps!

(DISCLOSURE: I DO NOT WORK FOR, HOLD STOCK IN OR OWN AIRSIGN. THIS POST IS INFORMATIONAL IN NATURE AND SHOULD NOT BE MISCONSTRUED AS A ROTE ENDORSEMENT OF THE PRODUCT ITSELF — Alex)
Note: this is a 3rd party product and Corona Labs cannot proivde any support for it..

Keep in mind the rules of Windows Phone pixel scaling

This one is a niche tip, but can be useful to those of us making the leap to Windows Phone via CoronaCards. As is to be expected, there are strange differences and obstacles to developing on this platform. However, it’s the way we overcome them that makes the experience that much more rewarding.

Recently, developer Spacewolf had a peculiar problem with the pixel scaling and differences between silverlight and Corona’s pixel heights. A couple of Corona engineers weighed in, and provided a pretty simple answer and solution to the query. If you’re working on Windows Phone apps, or just want to have this tip in your toolbelt, check out the original thread below!

PSA for all those targeting non-mobile devices

The revolution is nigh, my friends. Sooner than we know, deploying our apps and games to the desktop will be a reality, and we will be able to make every dream a reality. That might be hyperbole, but the fact is that we will be able to get our projects onto a much greater amount of platforms, very soon.

But until that day, we have to remember that Android TV and Amazon Fire TV to work with. This thread is kind of old, and the information contained herein can be found at several other locations across the web, but I liked this thread because the later posts catalogue all of the keys and their maps for the general Android experience. Head on down to the original post and give it a bookmark for later use.
