Introducing SuperAwesome – kid-friendly monetization for Corona apps

large_superawesome_1500pxIf you make apps for kids, you know that data privacy laws like COPPA in the U.S. and GDPR in Europe have strict guidelines on how you can monetize. Because of this, we are pleased to welcome the SuperAwesome “AwesomeAds” platform to our growing repertoire of monetization plugins. What makes them special? SuperAwesome’s platform is built specifically for the data-privacy requirements of the under-13 demographic.

AwesomeAds matches top kids’ brands like LEGO, Disney, and Hasbro with exciting and relevant content owners, delivering high-performing brand campaigns to kids worldwide. As well as being fully COPPA-compliant, every ad campaign goes through SuperAwesome’s industry-standard content review procedure to ensure it’s 100% kid-safe.

We reached out to SuperAwesome’s Chief Product Officer, Joshua Wohle, for his comments on the Corona plugin: “Through developing AwesomeAds, we are constantly defining new, easier ways for publishers to increase revenue whilst ensuring a 100% kid-safe environment. We’re excited to open up our plugin to Corona developers, allowing them to focus on creating amazing new apps and digital experiences for kids, whilst SuperAwesome helps monetize their efforts in a safe and effective way.”

Getting started

Before you can use their ads, you must register in the SuperAwesome developer portal. After that, you will need to include the plugin in your build.settings, main.lua and other .lua files where you need to access the APIs. SuperAwesome uses similar API calls to other ad providers and you can learn about them in our SuperAwesome documentation.

Conclusion

SuperAwesome’s “AwesomeAds” is a 100% kid-safe solution for ad monetization in your kids’ apps and it’s really simple to use. To find out more, see our documentation, and if you have any further questions, please visit the Corona forums.
