Corona Geek On Air – Episode 16 – Hanging with Eric Dyck of Tap for Tap
Corona Geek On Air episode 16 is ready for your comments!
During this week’s live Corona Geek On Air Hangout we were joined by special guest Eric Dyck, co-Founder of Tap for Tap, the tap exchange network that helps developers promote and monetize their apps for free. During the hangout we announced this week’s Corona Labs t-shirt winner, covered some Big Corona Meetup details, learned more about mobile app monetization, shared some app favorites, and looked forward to the future with Google Fiber. Overall, it was a great show and I’d like to thank Eric for taking time out of his busy schedule to hang with us for an hour.
As always, be sure to join us next Monday at 2pm CST and add us to your Google+ Corona SDK circle.
Thanks for watching,
Charles McKeever

Corona Blog highlights
- Make Your Apps Faster – Another great article appeared on the Corona Labs blog from ArdentKid on how to use predetermined transitions for manual animations. This method makes apps 20% faster than computed models. It’s a good article so check it out.
Developer Spotlight
- Erik Dyck, co-Founder, Tap for Tap – This week we hung out with Erik Dyck, co-Founder, Tap for Tap. Eric gave us some great insights into how app promotion and discovery is evolving and how developers can use the tap exchange network to promote and monetize their apps for free. Tap for Tap has plans to support the Corona SDK and they are actively working on an integration library that should be ready in the next few weeks. One of the big take aways for me was that Tap for Tap essentially helps you with both the marketing and monetization of your apps all with one SDK. That’s good news for developers because we want to leverage our strengths in as many areas as possible.
App Review
- This week we went around the virtual table and asked everyone what their favorit app was. Be sure to watch the hangout to find out what we said.
Device / Industry News
- Google Fiber removes limits – Google is busy rolling out fiber Internet access in Kansas City as well as city wide free wifi. It’s opening up a whole new world to start ups and Google is testing out how it will expand it’s reach into all forms of media in the next 5 years. Read all about it and hear what we have to share on the topic near the end of the hangout. Google is even giving away a free Nexus 7 with the service. It’s obvious that they are serious about becoming an even more dominate player in both the online and offline spaces.
- On the next weekly Corona Geek On Air Hangout we’ll be joined by Alex Souza from Kwisksher. Alex is going to share how you can use Photoshop to create mobile apps without writing code, so that will be a fun conversation for sure. So be sure to tune in for that episode 17 of Corona Geek.

Posted at 13:18h, 03 DecemberI like the idea of integrating a promotion method into apps that lets you build up an install base that can then be monetized later once the numbers make sense.
