Corona Geek #28 – App Development Workflow – Round Table Discussion
Today we discussed app development workflow with with Dr. Brian Burton, Ed Maurina, Gerald Bailey, Ian Masters, Matthew Chapman, and Tetsuo Ono. Overall we agreed that workflow is as varied as the number of development tools on the market, but there are also some best practices that developers can adopt to ensure that they develop their apps as quickly as possible. Listen in on today’s show and hear what this panel of Corona app developers had to share.
Here are a few of the resources we mentioned during the show.
- MockFlow – Wireframe your apps before writing code.
- DevelTeam – a collaboration-based social network for Indie Game Developers.
- ZeroBrain – an IDE for Corona SDK
- TestFlight – iOS Beta Testing on the Fly
- HockeyKit – Over-The-Air Distribution for iOS and Android

Ed has also documented his own Corona workflow, along with some of the tools he recommends for creating apps quickly using Corona SDK. Jesse Warden also published an excellent Corona game development workflow video that you may be interested in watching. It goes into a lot of details on his workflow and has some great tool tips as well.

Congratulations to Ian Masters and Alan Thompson for winning first place in the “Best Mobile Game” category at TIGA using Corona SDK and for winning the first day of the StoneHack Challenge at BETT, where they made a Galton Board in 6 hours using Corona.
